United Church Women

The United Church Women (UCW) of St. Andrew’s has been active for over 50 years, having started in 1962 with meetings in members’ homes before changing the venue to the church.

The founding philosophy was “Triple F” for friendship, fellowship and fun, which continues to this day, with members enjoying the support they give each other through life’s journey.

Speaker events are frequent, which are always interesting, and are open to all members of the congregation and community.

Through the years the group has successfully raised funds for the church through the sale of a cookbook – which went through four printings – as well as book sales in various malls, awesome art sales, and rummage sales to name just a few. The women also sponsored a Vietnamese family.

In addition to fellowship and learning opportunities at the meetings, the UCW decorates the sanctuary for Thanksgiving and Christmas, and organizes an Easter memorial plant sale. Several meet weekly to recycle used greeting cards into new creations which they offer for a loonie with proceeds going to charities in the Edmonton area.

Today they meet monthly at 9:30 am on the third Monday of the month. New members are always welcome.
